General Information

'Evrabister' is situated in a lovely setting right next to the trees at Kergord, just along the road from the Bonhoga Gallery at the Weisdale Mill.

This charming cottage was featured on BBC’s Scotland Home of the Year and was awarded a place in the final while judges praised the owner’s work to create a place of “respite and comfort” without losing the traditional feel of the croft, getting a near perfect score of 28 out of 30. You can find more information below:-

Local amenities in the area include several shops, the nearest one being at Weisdale (with fuel pumps), about 3 miles from the house), and Whiteness or Bixter.

The area's primary school is situated about a mile past the Weisdale shop at Whiteness where there is also a public hall.

Driving north from the house takes you to the main road north, therefore Brae / Sullom Voe are within easy reach.

New double-glazed windows were installed in 2020 along with a refitted bathroom suite and new radiators.

The front door opens to a small vestibule with a south-facing window, a cabinet housing the meters and tiled flooring. A part-glazed door leads to the living room.

The good-sized living room provides a cosy, sociable space with windows to the east and south both with blinds, the south window enjoying the view down the valley and having a deep window shelf with additional display shelving to either side. A 'Morso' multi-fuel stove set on a stone hearth with slate backing provides a cosy heat source although there is also a central heating radiator. Wood laminate flooring.

An archway leads through to the bright, attractive kitchen again with a dual aspect, this time to the east and north, both windows having blinds. This well-designed room has grey fitted units and solid wood worktops with attractive tiled splash backs, a sink, space for a cooker which is included in the sale and a cooker hood over. There is plenty of space for a table and chairs to fit comfortably. Tiled flooring.

Back through the living room, a second door leads to the rear hallway and remaining accommodation. The carpeted hallway has a handy built-in cupboard, side window and clothes pulley over.

The sleek, modern bathroom was refitted in 2020 and comprises of a white WC, wash hand basin and bath with shower over. Wood flooring

Two carpeted bedrooms are located at the rear of the property, both windows are south-facing and fitted with Venetian blinds while benefitting from the natural light. Bedroom 1 has a wardrobe recess and master bedroom 2 has two built-in wardrobes providing plenty of storage space.

We have availed ourselves of services provided by Harper Macleod of Lerwick, both in buying and selling residential property. Our needs on both these occasions were fully met and the service provided by them made our task in these circumstances, seemingly without effort.

Prior to this we had also received very helpful general advice pertaining to Shetland real estate from them. This was a tremendous benefit to us at the time.
