Overview

Situated on the edge of the village of Walls and enjoying spectacular views over Vaila Sound and to the Loch of Grunnavoe, 'Viewmount' is a detached 4 / 5 bedroom family home within easy reach of the local primary school, shop and health centre.

The accommodation is arranged over two floors comprising a large kitchen / diner, en-suite master bedroom, office / 5th bedroom, toilet and utility room on the ground floor, plus a very spacious, particularly bright living room, three further bedrooms and a family bathroom upstairs. Large, 28' long attached garage / workshop, ample parking and south-facing paved patio area positioned to take full advantage of the fine views.

The house sits in an unusually large site of around 0.85 acres leaving plenty of space for further development (or a very large garden), planning permission having already been granted for a detached two bedroom / two bathroom house which would provide a great letting opportunity or granny annex.

General Information

'Viewmount' is situated in the picturesque village of Walls on the south side of the West Mainland area of Shetland approximately 25 miles from Lerwick. The house is situated on the eastern periphery of the village which is clustered around the head of Vaila Sound, the property enjoying spectacular views of the sound and the islands of Vaila & Linga to the south, and also over open countryside to Loch of Grunnavoe to the north-east.

Walls has a range of amenities which are all within reasonable walking distance of the house including a primary school / nursery, shop & post office, health centre, a small community swimming pool for private hire, village hall as well as a pier, marina & boating club. The village hosts an annual agricultural show and regatta. A commuter bus service operates to Lerwick daily, plus several additional services at other times during the day.

Built in the early 1990's the property is double glazed and heated by electric storage heaters. The sale will include all carpets, curtains & blinds, and light fittings.

Property Location

To reach the property drive into Walls immediately turning left by the shop following signs for Whitesness, the Germatwatt Centre & Wastview Care Centre. Pass the shop & bakery on the left and follow the road passing the marina and care centre on the right and continue to the brow of the hill. Cross a cattle grid and 'Viewmount' is on the left immediately after the brown agricultural shed.

Thanks again for your brilliant service with both my property sales over the past years. Your experience in Shetland is much noted with local people.

Selling my house whilst living in Edinburgh was a daunting prospect but I should not have worried. The communications between both parties was easy and the sale of my property went through without any hitches.

Please do not select all locations - different areas in Shetland have quite different characteristics. For example, it would be unlikely that a property in Lerwick will be of interest to someone considering a croft house in Yell or Unst.
