‘Skitpow’ is situated on the East Shore road which runs along the north side of the Pool of Virkie at the very southern tip of the South Mainland of Shetland approximately 23 miles from Lerwick, the location putting it within easy reach of Sumburgh Airport and travel to mainland Scotland. There is a boating club and marina just below the house, and a local shop and post office nearby in the small village of Toab, further amenities being available at Dunrossness about 3 miles to the north, including a mini-supermarket with fuel pumps, and also the area's primary school, older pupils going to Sandwick or Lerwick.

There are many places of interest in the South Mainland area including Sumburgh Head and its RSPB reserve & visitor centre, archeological sites at Jarlshof and Scatness broch, Quendale Mill, and slightly further afield, the Loch of Spiggie, another RSPB reserve, and St Ninian's Isle and its spectacular sand tombolo at Bigton.

A porch with glazed front door and large side window looking out to the Pool of Virkie, provides the entrance to the property and space for coats etc., from here a glazed inner door opens to a large, very spacious living / dining room with laminate flooring, a bright room thanks to the internal window to the porch and a wide triple window again enjoying the fine open view to the Pool of Virkie. There is a solid-fuel room heater (not tested) set on a tiled hearth with stone clad surround behind, although there is also a central heating radiator.

A door from the living room leads to a hallway with built-in cupboard and access hatch to the loft. On the right is the substantial kitchen / diner its two windows enjoying open views over the farmland behind the house. It has its own uPVC entrance door with glazed panel to the side plus further windows to the side and rear, power & lighting and a cold water tap plus plumbing for a washing machine.

Back off the hall are the four bedrooms (or three bedrooms and an office), a modern bathroom and separate shower room. Three of the bedrooms are doubles, all with built-in wardrobe space.
