'Runn' is situated on the Maywick side road about a mile or so from the centre of Bigton , a small, picturesque village on the west side of the South Mainland of Shetland approximately 17 miles south of Lerwick.
The village is best known as being the access point for the spectacular sand tombolo at St Ninian Isle which can be seen from the house. There is a local shop and village hall in the centre of the village itself, with further amenities available nearby at Dunrossness to the south where Mainland's mini-supermarket & post office (with fuel) and the local primary school are situated. To the north is a doctor's surgery at Levenwick and the Junior High school and South Mainland swimming pool at Sandwick.
In addition to St Ninian Isle there are many other places of interest in the surrounding area including the island of Mousa and its famous broch, Loch of Spiggie RSPB reserve, the croft house museum, Quendale Mill, Old Scatness broch, Jarlshof & Sumburgh Head.
Shetland is linked to mainland Scotland by an overnight ferry service from Aberdeen & Orkney operated by Northlink Ferries (www.northlinkferries.co.uk). There are direct flights from Sumburgh airport at the very southern tip of Shetland to Aberdeen, Edinburgh & Glasgow (www.loganair.co.uk).
The property comprises the original croft house which was extended about 10 years ago to provide a stunning kitchen / dining room.
