Centrally situated within Shetland, Voe is an ideal base from which to explore the islands. The main road through the village leads to Brae and the North, whilst the road by the local shop leads to Toft and ferries to the outer isles of Yell & Unst. The road south from Lower Voe continues towards Aith & Bixter and the West Mainland.
The local shop in the village (Tagon Stores) which also sells fuel, is within easy walking distance although there is a wide range of amenities in nearby Brae these including the High School (nursery, primary & secondary schooling to year 6), a leisure centre / swimming pool, health centre, Co-op mini-supermarket and various other social and recreational amenities.
