General Information

‘Idono’ is situated towards the south end of East Burra, about 7 miles from Scalloway and 13 miles from Lerwick, both of which are within easy commuting distance.

Although an island, Burra is linked to mainland Shetland by two fixed bridges via the neighbouring island of Trondra. There is an outdoor centre in Bridge End itself however the main amenities on the island are situated at Hamnavoe just over two miles north of the house, where there is a shop, primary school & marina. There is a garage with fuel pumps by the bridge over from Trondra, and further amenities at Scalloway include additional local shopping, another school and a swimming pool.

Burra has several fine beaches including Bannamin on West Burra, and Meal Beach to the north.

The house which is of timber frame / timber clad construction, was built in the late 1990's. It is however now in poor condition with much of the interior stripped out and will therefore require complete refurbishment.

It is being sold as seen and no warranties will be given in respect of any contents or services. All services / appliances have not and will not be tested. It is likely the property may not be mortgageable. Prospective purchasers requiring a loan should consult their lender.

Pass the Outdoor Centre on the right, cross the bridge and follow the road up the hill and around to the right past the Kirk. Continue past the Hall and the East Hogaland junction, turning right to a track with a sign for ‘Blimister’. ‘Idono’ is on the right opposite a modern white house on the left.
