Vidlin & Queeness croft is estimated to extend to around 25 acres or thereby, extending along the west side of Vidlin Voe. Included is a large shed / byre, a substantial stone-built boat shed, plus a jetty by the marina.

The land, which is well placed for easy access to Brae / Sullom Voe and within easy commuting distance of Lerwick (20 miles), may have development potential (subject to usual consents) with opportunities for fine views over the voe.

General Information

Vidlin is situated in the north-east corner of Mainland Shetland within easy reach of Brae / Sullom Voe, the location of Sullom Voe oil terminal and also the new Total gas plant, yet it is also within easy commuting distance of Lerwick approximately 20 miles to the south.

Local amenities in the immediate area include a shop which also sells fuel, a primary school (secondary pupils go to Brae), village hall, a small museum & marina.

Additional amenities can be found in Voe or Brae.

The croft is registered and therefore subject to regulation by the Crofting Commission. Prospective purchasers requiring further information or advice in this regard should discuss this with their own agents or contact the Crofting Commission at 4/6 Castle Wynd, Inverness, IV2 3EQ. The Croft

The owned croft Vidlin & Queeness is situated in the centre of the village of Vidlin itself, close to the school. It comprises the five areas of ground (No’s 1 to 5 on the plan lying along the west side of the voe, north of the road through Vidlin. Most of this land has been re-seeded.

There are a couple of buildings on this land including a large 24m part stone / part block-built shed with power, towards the northern end of area 1, plus a substantial 9.45m stone-built detached boat shed at the junction of the school road and the main road. Also included is a quarter acre area (No.6) immediately to the north of the ferry terminal plus a jetty and concrete base for a small marina pontoon within the sheltered waters by the marina.


As much of the Vidlin & Queeness ground is adjacent to existing properties, planning for a house site would not normally be expected to be a problem although prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves in this regard by contacting the local planning office directly. Sites in this area would benefit from being within easy reach of local amenities, in particular the school, and also from fine views of the voe. Services should also be easily accessible although again prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves in this regard.
