Attractive, stone-built property of considerable character, situated close to the shore in the centre of the picturesque village of Walls on the west side of Shetland approximately 25 miles west of Lerwick. The house is very handy for the local shop & post office and within walking distance of the primary school.

This house which is Grade B Listed, adjoins the 18th century Haa of Bayhall. It benefits from a south-westerly aspect, all the main rooms enjoying views out over the pier and the head of the voe around which the village is clustered.

The accommodation which retains the original wood lining, now painted, comprises a good-sized sittingroom and dining kitchen on the ground floor, plus two bedrooms, a box bedroom and shower room on the first floor.

Externally there is a large, mature garden to the rear and an attached shed to the side.

General Information

‘Bayhall House’ is situated by the pier and boating club in the centre of the picturesque village of Walls which is clustered around a voe on south side of the West Mainland area of Shetland. This is a very convenient location as local amenities including the shop & post office, primary school / nursery, a small community swimming pool for private hire, and health centre are close by. A commuter bus service runs from the village to Lerwick.

Aith, about 10 miles from the house is home to the west mainland area's Junior High School and leisure centre / swimming pool.

The house is a stone-built property below a natural slate roof. Heating is provided by electric storage / panel heaters.

Property Location

Drive into the centre of Walls and turn left to ‘Whitesness’ and the shop. Immediately opposite the shop turn right before the bus stop and telephone box. Continue straight on towards the three storey building ahead on the left. ‘Bayhall House’ is attached to the far (eastern) side of this building.

To see the location of the property in an overall Shetland context, adjust the zoom by clicking the + or - buttons. Use the 'Map', 'Satellite' & 'Hybrid' buttons to switch between an ordnance survey style road map, a satellite aerial photograph or a combination (hybrid) of the two. Please note that the date of the satellite image is unknown and may not show new buildings.

(Please be aware the Google Street View was taken on the date shown. The building and surroundings may have changed since then. We always recommend you view the property personally.)

Thanks again for your brilliant service with both my property sales over the past years. Your experience in Shetland is much noted with local people.

Selling my house whilst living in Edinburgh was a daunting prospect but I should not have worried. The communications between both parties was easy and the sale of my property went through without any hitches.

Please do not select all locations - different areas in Shetland have quite different characteristics. For example, it would be unlikely that a property in Lerwick will be of interest to someone considering a croft house in Yell or Unst.
