The airport at Sumburgh is easily accessible for air travel to and from mainland Scotland.
In addition to St Ninian's Isle, there are many other places of interest in the South Mainland area including Mousa Isle and its famous broch, the Loch of Spiggie RSPB reserve, the croft house museum, Quendale Mill, Old Scatness Broch, Jarlshof, and also another RSPB reserve / visitor's centre at Sumburgh Head.
The property comprises the original stone-built cottage and a later extension to the rear which has been completely newly renovated and houses two bedrooms, a bathroom and utility room. The next stage was to completely repair and renovate the original cottage to provide a living / dining room and kitchen although work on this part of the property has not yet started. In the meantime the utility room in the rear extension could potentially be used to provide basic kitchen facilities allowing that part of the property to be lived in on a temporary basis whilst work to the original cottage was carried out.

To reach the property drive to Bigton and take the turning to Ireland on the north side of the village by the bus stop. Follow the road to the cluster of houses at Ireland in the distance, and turn right, again by a bus stop, on to a tarred road to the north. Follow this road for approximately 1¼ miles crossing over two cattle grids on the way, until you reach a fork in the road. Take the track to the right over another grid towards a long white cottage below. Turn left through a gate to the side of the first house, and continue down to the property.
