General Information

'Upper Freefield' is situated on the island of Burra off the west coast of Shetland approximately 6 miles from Scalloway and just over 10 miles from Lerwick. Although an island, Burra is linked to mainland Shetland by two fixed bridges via the neighbouring island of Trondra.

Hamnavoe, the main population centre on the island and just over two miles north of the house, is the location of the island's primary school and shop / post office, and also has a pier & marina. Bridge End itself has an outdoor centre which is the base for the local canoe club, and another marina, and there is a garage with fuel pumps by the bridge over from Trondra. Burra has several beautiful beaches including Meal Beach to the north and Minn to the south.

The house is double glazed most windows being uPVC units, and heating is provided by electric storage heaters. The sale will include all white goods and furniture.

The double glazed front door opens to a bright porch with windows to either side and inner door to a carpeted hallway with doors to the main bedroom & living room, and hatch to the loft space.

Note the rear boundary to the back garden follows the line of the remainder of a stone dyke. The area of ground beyond the boundary up to the fence has historically been enclosed with the property but does not form part of the subjects of sale.
