General Information

'Leaside' is situated on a quiet side road off the Levenwick loop road, the village of Levenwick being an attractive, sparsely populated rural location on the east side of the South Mainland of Shetland approximately 17 miles from Lerwick. In the village within walking distance of the house is a small local shop and doctor's surgery whilst slightly further afield is a lovely sandy beach. Further amenities are however available at Sandwick (approx. 5 miles) to the north where there is a Junior High School (nursery, primary & secondary schooling), another shop and also the South Mainland swimming pool, Bigton to the west (another shop), or Dunrossness to the south.

The property was completely renovated by the current owners in 2001, the original cottage having been taken right back to the stone built shell, re-built internally, and extended to the rear. At the same time the detached garage was built whilst later in 2009 the superb 'East room' sun room was added. The utility room and fuel / garden store were added to the rear of the garage in 2015. The size of the site is such that there is plenty of scope for further extending the property if desired, subject to the usual consents.

Windows in the original house are double glazed; those in the sun room are triple glazed, whilst heating is by electric storage / panel heaters. Hot water is provided by a 'Heatrae Sadia' FBM 25 combination water tank housed in a cupboard off the landing.
