General Information

'Griesta' is conveniently situated within easy commuting distance of Lerwick just nine miles to the north, the house being situated on a side road off the Aithsetter loop road which runs through the village, about ½ mile from the junction with the main Lerwick - Sumburgh road north.

The village has its own primary school (older pupils go to Sandwick or Lerwick), a well-used community hall, a marina at Aithsvoe plus a farm shop & café by the main road junction. The village hosts Shetland's biggest agricultural show in August.

The property was completed in the late 1980's. It would now benefit from some updating which is reflected in the price however offers a spacious family home with the bonus of the good-sized garden and fantastic views.

Accommodation

A double glazed wood-lined sun porch provides the entrance to the property, the space facing west and therefore providing a great place to sit in the late afternoon and evening sun. Fitted units along one wall provide a bench to sit on and also storage space and shelving for plants etc. The floor is tiled and lighting is provided by a couple of wall lights.

Heating is provided by an electric towel rail. At the end of the hall is a large kitchen / dining room, a bright space thanks to windows to three sides, the floor-to-ceiling window to the dining area allowing the dining area to enjoy the fantastic sea view, a storage / convector heater providing heating. A breakfast bar separates the dining area from the fitted kitchen with plenty of cupboard & worktop space although replacement units would perhaps be desireable. Plumbing for a dishwasher.

Finally on the ground floor a large utility room has space for washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer etc., coat hooks plus a large built-in airing cupboard which houses the hot water tank and provides useful storage space.

The stair from the hall which is lit by a large Velux window over, leads up to the living room, a very generously proportioned space well-placed to enjoy the views, with lots of natural light thanks to Velux windows to either side, all with integral blinds, plus a large window facing south. Bench storage unit by the stairs and access to the eaves space.

The remaining accommodation on the first floor comprises a shower room with electric shower, the principal bedroom, a large room with Velux window with integral blind enjoying the view to the sea plus a second window to the gable wall enjoying a view up the east coast of Shetland to Lerwick and Bressay in the far distance, sliding mirror doors along one wall concealing a substantial built-in cupboard / wardrobe, plus an office or fifth bedroom (a single), again with Velux window with integral blind enjoying the sea view and access to the eaves.

Follow the road past the turning to Fladdabister and a group of houses and a large green shed on the left, and turn next left to Aithsetter by the bus stop. 'Griesta' is the second house on the right as the road turns around to the right and goes down the hill.
