General Information

Scalloway, originally the ancient capital Shetland, is located on the west coast of Shetland approximately six miles from Lerwick. The village is clustered around its harbour which is used by fishing boats and some oil related shipping. 'Driftwood' itself is situated on the west side of the village at Port Arthur by the North Atlantic Fisheries College Marine Centre.

A range of local amenities are within walking distance of the house, these including the several local shops and a hairdresser on Main Street, a primary school, swimming pool, doctors surgery, garage, youth centre and an award winning hotel.

The property is double glazed and heated by a mix of storage heaters and radiators fed by a solid-fuel room heater in the living room. Some updating would be beneficial which is reflected in the price.

Property Location

To reach the property drive into the village passing the school on the right and continue down the hill to the roundabout. Turn right onto Main Street and continue right around the harbour to the Fisheries College. Follow the road around and up to the right. Immediately after the first house on the corner is a track to the right, 'Driftwood' being the second house in.

To see the location of the property in an overall Shetland context, adjust the zoom by clicking the + or - buttons. Use the 'Map', 'Satellite' & 'Hybrid' buttons to switch between an ordnance survey style road map, a satellite aerial photograph or a combination (hybrid) of the two. Please note that the date of the satellite image is unknown and may not show new buildings.

(Please be aware the Google Street View was taken on the date shown. The building and surroundings may have changed since then. We always recommend you view the property personally.)

Thanks again for your brilliant service with both my property sales over the past years. Your experience in Shetland is much noted with local people.

Selling my house whilst living in Edinburgh was a daunting prospect but I should not have worried. The communications between both parties was easy and the sale of my property went through without any hitches.

Please do not select all locations - different areas in Shetland have quite different characteristics. For example, it would be unlikely that a property in Lerwick will be of interest to someone considering a croft house in Yell or Unst.
