Sizeable shop & post office premises occupying a prominent 0.33 acre site by the pier in the centre of the village of Mid Yell on the island of Yell, Shetland.
The property comprises the main single storey retail premises which extend to around 215m (2,300ft), a separate storage shed and a single garage. There is also a separate derelict two storey former dwellinghouse.

The property is situated across the road from the pier and beach in the centre of the village of Mid Yell on Yell, the larger of Shetland’s North Isles, the village being Yell's main population centre and the location for its main amenities including the Junior High School, leisure centre & swimming pool, medical & care centres
Measuring about 19 miles long by 7.5 miles wide and having a population of around 1,000, Yell is connected to Mainland Shetland by a regular ro-ro ferry service which runs throughout the day from Ulsta at the south end of the island, about 10 miles from the property. A similar service runs from Gutcher to the north to the neighbouring island of Unst.
The Shetland Islands themselves lie in the middle of the North Sea about 100 miles north of Mainland Scotland, and are in fact closer to Bergen in Norway than to Edinburgh. Despite the remote ‘get-away-from-it-all’ location, the mainland is still easily accessible with a daily overnight ferry service linking Shetland with Orkney & Aberdeen (Northlink Ferries), and regular flights by Loganair & Flybe from Sumburgh Airport at the very southern tip of Shetland to Aberdeen, Glasgow & Edinburgh.
Spread over 100 islands, 15 of them inhabited, the Shetland Islands offer spectacular and unspoilt scenery together with a wide variety of wildlife and many places of historical and archeological interest. Thanks to the oil boom of the 1970’s, islanders enjoy an excellent range of services including a network of leisure centres (one in Mid Yell itself) and excellent transport links with a good road network and subsidised inter-island ferry services.
